The Relieve Sideboard stems from my interest in exploring how craftsmanship and technique can transform the perception of a seemingly simple form. Its solid wood body gains depth through a hand-carved texture that runs across the front panels, creating a subtle rhythm of light and shadow. More than just a finish, the relief becomes the piece’s defining identity.

The form rests upon two monoliths of solid volcanic stone, their mineral presence contrasting with the warmth and texture of the wood. This combination of powerful materials results in a piece with a sculptural character, where material robustness coexists with the delicacy and precision of hand craftsmanship.

The piece brings together two material expressions deeply rooted in the region solid wood from Michoacán and artisanal carving reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. I want the piece to evoke the meeting of design and craft, the interplay between the object’s geometry and the unique imprint of the hands that shaped it.
